FAQs

How is coaching different to therapy and counseling?

Counseling and therapy are to remedy the client's problems. The client comes to therapy or counseling because they feel dissatisfied with their life and want relief from psychological and/or physical symptoms. They want to get away from pain or discomfort rather than move towards desired goals. Therapy and counseling often seek to understand the past and what went wrong in order to be better in the present.

Coaching focuses on the present and future. A coach may work with a client who has a good life, but wants the coach to help them make it better.

What are the next steps for coaching?
How does the process work?

  1. We’ll start with a free, exploratory call to get to know one another. I’ll learn about your story, situation, and goals. We’ll begin to articulate na clear and actionable plan for working towards your personal and professional development goals and vision, including identifying potential obstacles ad creating strategies to overcome them.

  2. Assuming we find we’re a good fit, you’ll fill out an assessment to jumpstart your self-reflection process.

  3. The first session together will be an extended, foundational session where we’ll create a Personal Development Plan, defining clear and specific goals that align with your life. leadership, or career vision (even if you think you don’t have one!) We'll break these goals down into achievable milestones and measures of success.

  4. Each session thereafter will be focused on a topic from our co-created Personal Development Plan. Toward the end of each session, we’ll discuss action steps and accountability.

  5. After each session, you’ll receive a Summary. This will recap the action steps you committed to that session, notes on the themes or topics that came up during the session, and resources for further learning and development.

  6. I am available for short calls, texts, or emails in between sessions. I genuinely care about you and your progress

What is Coaching?

Everyone wants to know how they can be better, how can they improve and be the best they can be. Coaching is the answer.

Coaching is not telling people what to do; it is helping them clarify and control their life. It is helping them evaluate what they are doing now in their life in the light of their goals, dreams, values and intentions. It gives them new choices and leads to change. Coaching helps a person go beyond the mental blocks of what they thought was possible. Coaching works as a partnership between coach and client, it helps to clarify goals, to make them challenging and motivating, then to achieve those goals with the energy that comes from their deepest values.

Coaches are specially trained to work with people in all walks of life to help them achieve their goals, live their values and be the best trey can be.

Who hires a coach?

Everyone and anyone. Organizations hire coaches to improve teamwork, to coach executives and help managers. Individuals hire coaches to improve their life, their relationships, and their general happiness.

How should I prepare for a one-on-one coaching session?

In order to make the most of your session, please come prepared with a specific challenge you'd like to work through, insight you'd like to gain, or a specific area in your life you'd like to optimize.

For instance: "I'd like to feel less overwhelmed at work," "I'd like to explore what's next in my career," "I want to show up more confidently around my boss or colleagues," “I'd like clarity around a particular decision."

Getting ready for your session:

  • Get comfortable! Being in a private, quiet space with no distractions will aid in a more mindful, present conversation.

  • Having a pen and paper or other note-taking device handy will help you capture insights and next steps and other things you may want to take away from the session.
